As you journey upwards, on a winding gravel road, higher & higher into the Chianti hills, you will see the enormous craggy tower of the imposing Castello. At this point you may experience a tiny shudder of foreboding. As you arrive and enter into the castello itself, all foreboding is immediately dispelled. This medieval stronghold, fortified in 1400 by the Tuscan aristocratic dynasty of Ricasoli, has recently been restored by the present incumbents to splendid beauty. For any guests now, unlike hundreds of years ago, all is opulence, warmth and elegance.

The entire estate including the castle, it's tower and the farmhouse can accommdoate up to 65 guests at any one time. The magnificent tower, once the spartan quarters of the soldiers, now houses elegant suites and features a rooftop lookout which is now a terrace with open-air jacuzzi. The elegant and charming rooms are equally distributed along the castle and the tower . The 3 suites situated in the ancient tower are furnished with antique furniture and the bathrooms have a unique style. They offer luxury and comfort in the true style of a medieval queen! The romanticism of these rooms is also shown by the given names which recall famous couples in love or great and brave women of the past. Throughout the castle there are another 6 suites, all proudly offering the same unique and elegant style for their guests.

Through this charming green countryside you will find a big farmhouse that been lovingly restored into a number of charming and cosy independent apartments. The renovation respects the original rural structure. The stone house offers from each window a magnificent view and each apartment offers a terrace or an outdoor space.

Scattered throughout the 120 hectare estate you will find 15 hectars of vineyards, olive groves, horses, cashmere goats, pigs, cows, a river and a fishing lake. If you’re energetic there’s tennis, trekking, riding, cycling and swimming in the immediate vicinity, but you’ll need a car if you want to explore the surrounding countryside, or visit nearby Florence and Siena.

The present owners now produce their own label of wines, which is served with a set dinner prepared using estate-produced ingredients.

For weddings the castle provides a wonderful location. There are two dining rooms for a total of 55 people, traditional in their style with cotto floors, exposed beams and antique furniture. There is also a very large garden in front of the Tower of the Castle with a green lawn for about 150 people. Tables and a gazebo can be organised if you prefer to stay outside in the garden on the warmer summer evenings . The castle also has a small consecrated chapel for about 20 people.
