'Villa Montaltino' is immersed amongst the nature of Florentine hills, a short distance from the heart of historical Florence, less than five minutes by taxi or shuttle-service.

Though the center of Florence is nearby, 'Villa Montaltino' still offers a quiet and serenic atmosphere. Enjoy a long walk and be enveloped by the open spaces and the quiet atmosphere.

Piazza Michelangelo, Forte Belvedere and San Miniato al Monte are also reached in a short time. The atmosphere, thanks to an accurate, conservative restoration, has maintained the freshness and the privacy of the 16th century, Noblemen's house that it once was. The large guest rooms and open spaces make 'Villa Montaltino' what it is today.

The history is quite fascinating. During the most recent renovation, both historic documents and the coat-of-arms were discovered. These revealed that the property was the country seat of the Acciaoli, an ancient Florentine family who was responsible for the building of the monestary of the Certosa di Galluzzo, visible from 'Villa Montaltino'.

Also nearby is 'Arcetri's Observatory' and the 'Il Gioiello' villa, places Galileo lived and worked for more than fifteen years. He actually lived here during his last years of life close to the convent where his daughter Maria Celeste was a nun. Her name is recalled by the street leading to the Castle.

Weddings are performed in the private, aristocratic chapel recently restored to its original grandeur. Banquets and weddings parties can be held in the Limonaia. Originally used to house the lemon trees during the winter months, it has been completely restored and today accommodates groups up to 40 people for private dinners and weddings.

'Villa Montaltino' offers many amenities. There are 14 luxury apartments on property where guests may stay before and after the wedding ceremony. Guests have access to a car park. There is a very modern, central heated pool, which uses an ionization sea sal hygenic system as a substitute for chlorine. The pool itself sits amongst the olive trees and stone walls. Nearby is 'la Gabella', which originally was the toll gate between the area of Chianti and Florence. Now, 'la Gabella' is a sauna and a spacious jacuzzi. Guests have access to both features.

The Castle's restaurant offers a wonderful buffet breakfast, which includes fresh, local specialties and also a wide range of food which will satisfy any craving. During Summer, breakfast is served on the covered terrace (loggia), overlooking the whole valley. Exquisite lunches and dinners, with reservation, can also be ordered. In the cellars we keep our farm products obtained totally respecting nature, with simple and ecological methods. During the afternoon or evening it is possible to taste them in the cellar, the 'Cantina della Torre' or during an evening meal served on the Loggia.

Near the Renaissance capital of Florence, yet nestled in the Tuscan hills, 'Villa Montaltino' is perfect for couples hoping to celebrate their matrimony with a smaller, more intimate venue amidst tranquillity and serenity.
